Visit Saint Cloud Minnesota Tourist Attractions

Visit Saint Cloud Minnesota tourist attractions in the Central Lakes area of the state. The city's slogan is "all roads lead to Saint Cloud."

Saint Cloud Minnesota

This college town of about 66,000 is a great vacation spot in itself and a wonderful "home base" from which to explore much of the Central Lakes area.

St. Cloud is one of the larger Minnesota cities located along the Mississippi River.

You will find a revitalized downtown with a good choice of hotels, restaurants and night spots.

Reviews of St. Cloud Hotels and Bed & Breakfast Inns include the classy downtown Le St.-Germaine Suite Hotel, a Holiday Inn and other traditional hotel chains. The stunning Victorian Oaks B&B and Queen Anne style Heritage House are two of St. Cloud's finest.

The Riverside Guest Haus, as you might expect, overlooks the Mississippi River. If camping is your lodging of choice, the St. Cloud Campground & RV Park is right on the edge of the city.

Shopping in St. Cloud offers the expected chain stores and mall shopping including Crossroads Mall. Be sure to spend some time in the historic downtown area where you can shop at places like the Antiques Gallery, Books Revisited, and the Electric Fetus.

Spend some time enjoying the Munsinger and Clemens Gardens. THe gardens are located on the east side of the river. The Clemens Gardens are formal, European style gardens where you can enjoy thousands of rose bushes and the 24-foot tall Renaissance Fountain. The Munsinger Gardens offer a less structured stroll beside a grove of pines, beside a lily pond, and among a variety of flowers and bushes. If you choose, you can continue your walk north into Riverside Park or south on Beaver Island Trail that follows the river.

Lake Maria State Park is a short drive from St. Cloud and one of the few remnants of the Big Woods offering a wilderness experience close to the city. Whether you choose to spend some days camping in the park or exploring for the day, you will enjoy the lakeside picnic grounds, hiking trails, wildflowers and wildlife here.

Other attractions nearby include the Oliver H. Kelly Farm and the Sherburne National Wildlife Center. The Kelly farm is an authentic 1800's farm with costumed interpreters and is listed as a National Historic Landmark. The wildlife refuge, is a wonderful place for bird and wildlife spotting.
