Winter Vacation in Brainerd MN

Winter is here and 2015 lines up another great year of winter activities in Minnesota’s premier family winter wonderland.

NEW to Mount Ski Gull is the 1,200 foot tubing hill (largest in Minnesota) with a new lift featuring an automated loading station, there is also an 800 foot dedicated terrain park with an ever changing and improving selection of features including jumps and rails, and an enhanced bunny hill that now has a slow speed tow, re-graded slope to better accommodate beginner skiers, and a large flat loading and unloading area.

Three of Minnesota’s best indoor water parks are here to keep the family warm and entertained when not out exploring the area. Outdoor hot tubs, water slides, wading pools, lazy rivers, and more await your family and offer a great way to take the chill of winter out of your bones especially after a great day of outdoor winter activities.

Explore over 1,200 miles of groomed snowmobile trails including the Paul Bunyan State Trail which recently removed the ban on studded tracks and added a connection to the Crow Wing State Park. There are also hundreds of lakes filled with a variety of fish species, excellent cross country skiing, fat tire mountain biking in the Cuyuna State Recreation area, and more.

For huge events the Brainerd area serves up some monsters, this year marks the 25th anniversary of the JC’s $150,000 Ice Fishing Extravaganza, the largest charitable ice fishing contest in the world. This event hosts over 10,000 people from across the globe each year and is a bucket list item for sure. Not interested in the fishing, no worries, the Frozen Fore Winter Festival in February offers two days of live music, a frozen flop, ice golf, food fest, and other great activities all out on Gull Lake. This is a party you do not want to miss.

An excellent variety of lodging options await you with each offering all of the comforts and conveniences that you deserve with centralized access to everything that the Brainerd Lakes Area has to offer. It won’t take you, your family, and your friends long to figure out that Brainerd truly is Minnesota’s year round Playground.
