Most family vacation destinations in Minnesota include beautiful family vacation resorts, cabins, and dozens of state parks and many other top family vacations spots.

We were excited when we learned that Minnesota was awarded Super Bowl LII. It's been twenty-six years since Minnesota last hosted the Super Bowl. The only other Super Bowl played in Minnesota was Super Bowl XXVI on Jan. 26, 1992.

Embracing the Bold North: Maureen Hooley Bausch, CEO of the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee, states: “Super Bowl LII is our opportunity to showcase Minnesota to the world; all that life in the Bold North has to offer, and our incredible hospitality."

She goes on to say: "While our bold new stadium plays host to the biggest event of the year, our community will host thousands of members of the media and more than a million visitors throughout the 10 days of festivities leading up to the Big Game.”

Minnesota Super Bowl Lodging

Minnesota Vacation Rentals may offer the best options for your Super Bowl lodging.

It's no surprise that Minnesota Super Bowl lodging will sell out fast. Minnesota hotels are one option of course. Ideally you will want to be in Minneapolis or St. Paul. That may not be possible, so be sure to explore available lodging in nearby smaller towns.

The NFL estimates more than 100,000 fans will come from out of state for events during Super Bowl week. Hotels will fill up fast.

Super Bowl Activities and Events

The Super Bowl game is scheduled to be played on February 4, 2018, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis...just the second Super Bowl hosted in Minneapolis.

Super Bowl weekend is so much more than a football celebration. Planners tell us that they will offer the more than one million visitors to Minneapolis ten days of public festivities throughout the region. The crowning event will be, of course, Super Bowl Sunday. The Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee promises to "count down to Super Bowl LII with 52 weeks of activities, starting immediately after Super Bowl LII."

Events surrounding Super Bowl Sunday will likely take place primarily in the Twin Cities. There is no end to the attractions and activities you can enjoy in this area...whether planned events or exploring on your own.

Other Lodging Options

Vacation rentals are another lodging choice. You will find quite a few rentals in the Twin Cities Metro area and, again, if they are sold out, explore rentals in nearby towns.

From Super Bowl promotional press releases: "While the game and most of the festivities will be in Minneapolis, at least two key NFL events will be in St. Paul. They are Super Bowl Opening Night at the Xcel Energy Center on Jan. 29, 2018, and Taste of the NFL at the RiverCentre on Feb. 3, 2018, the night before the game."

Promoters tell us: "The 2018 Saint Paul Winter Carnival will conclude on Super Bowl Sunday. About once a decade, including during the 1992 Super Bowl hosted in Minneapolis, the Carnival has hosted a large ice palace. Organizers hope again to build an ice palace to attract Super Bowl visitors to Saint Paul in 2018."

Saint Paul Minnesota Attractions include some of the Twin Cities best restaurants, museums, and activities.

The National Football League has set February 4, 2018 as the date for Super Bowl LII, to be played at the new U.S. Bank Stadium. The Minnesota Super Bowl LII Host Committee built their presentation on the theme, “Bold North,” highlighting the new, iconic and bold stadium as a centerpiece, and included the many bold moves Minnesotans have made in creating a destination that is ready to host the world’s biggest game.

The Vikings moved into U.S. Bank Stadium for the 2016 season. “We’ve got all the confidence that as high of a bar that Houston set, Minnesota will exceed it. The showpiece of the entire week is going to be our stadium, which we think is the finest sports and entertainment venue in the world.” ~ Zygi Wilf, Minnesota Vikings Owner
