Gems of Itasca

Going out to Joyce estate by boat on Wabana Lake

Going out to Joyce estate by boat on Wabana Lake

There are many many more gems in Grand Rapids, Itasca County MN than the Forest History Center!

We have the world's own Judy Garland Museum as she was born here in Grand Rapids Itasca County. We have the only one live outdoor ampitheater on the Mississippi River.

There is a steamboat that pulls up to the landing with cast members on it and they deliver a fun, musical variety vaudeville style show for three weeks in summer.

We have the Joyce Estate - built in 1920's - made up of about 40 buildings including tennis courts, an airplane hangar ' runway & other luxurious amenities for the Joyce family - one of the richest families in the world.

There has been a film documentary in production here over the summer called Gems of Itasca.

What to Do in Grand Rapids
by: Visit Minnesota

Thank you for taking the time to give readers of the Visit Minnesota website a good look at why they should visit Gand Rapids!

I agree that there is far more to enjoy in your wonderful town than fits on one line of this page.

The Visit Minnesota site is still a work in progress and we have not yet written pages for all the cities and towns we will eventually feature. The "placeholder" for unwritten pages is a link to TripAdvisor so readers can begin to see why they shoud go.

Your contribution will be helpful as our new page is written. Our goal is to spend some time (quality and quantity) in a town before writing a page. We stay in the town's lodgings, eat in restaurants, visit the tourist attractions, and take photos to post on our site.

Look for a Grand Rapids page soon!
