Have You Visited Minnesota This Summer?

You are a subscriber to the Minnesota Visitor newsletter so I know you are interested in what Minnesota offers. Maybe you live out of state and have always meant to visit. Maybe you have been here before and have always thought you would return. Or maybe you live in Minnesota and need to just decide to take the time for a close-to-home “Staycation.” There is still one month of summer left and many opportunities to enjoy this beautiful state.

We recently agreed to partner with several other sites that offer some wonderful Minnesota deals bargains and coupons. If a cheap flight, bargain hotel room or discount event tickets are what you need to get you out into the glories of a Minnesota summer, we hope these will help.

One question we often get from people who live out of state is: “What should I be sure to see when I visit Minnesota?” Here is what I tell them. If you have only two or three days, then focus on Saint Paul and Minneapolis. You can enjoy all of the culture and entertainment of the Twin Cities along with our beautiful riverfront areas, city lakes and beaches, and wonderful parks.

If your Minnesota vacation can extend to five days, take in Stillwater, Red Wing and Winona. These charming river towns are loaded with historical buildings, wonderful shops and some of our best hotels and bed & breakfast inns.

Can you stay for a week? Then please don’t miss our inland seaport, Duluth. Perched on the shores of Lake Superior, Duluth does a great job of combining small town charm with big city pizzazz. In Canal Park you can watch ships come in from all over the world and see the iconic lift bridge. Visit the Great Lakes Aquarium, stop to smell the roses in Leif Erikson Park, tour Glensheen Mansion and take a ride on the North Shore Scenic Railroad.

We hope you can visit Minnesota for two weeks. If you can, then include a trip along the North Shore of Lake Superior with time spent in Two Harbors and Grand Marais. You will find yourself stopping often to enjoy, and photograph, the gorgeous scenery. Be sure to put yourself in the pictures! If you still have a couple of days left on your Minnesota vacation, spend them in Ely. This is Minnesota wilderness area on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

If all of this makes you feel the need for more details about what you will find in all parts of Minnesota, pick up a copy of our favorite Minnesota travel guidebook.

If you have questions for us you can ask them, and get answers, at our Online Vacation Planning page.

As we travel around Minnesota, we hope to see you!
