The Minnesota State Fish…the walleye is what many anglers hope to catch. For your best chance at walleyes, think about heading to the larger, colder, Minnesota fishing lakes in the northern parts of the state. Northern and Central Minnesota lakes are also your best bet if you hope to land a trophy Northern Pike or Muskie. Lakes all over Minnesota offer great fishing for a wide variety of fish.

You can purchase a fishing license online on the DNR website or many other places including bait shops, gas stations, hardware stores, marinas, resorts and sporting goods stores.
Fishing regulations change almost yearly, so pick up a free copy of the Minnesota Fishing Regulations book wherever licenses are sold.
Take some time before the big day to make sure you have all of your fishing equipment and supplies.
