Minnesota Visitor, Issue #36 - Tall Ships Week in Duluth

The Tall Ships Event draws thousands of people to Duluth every year.

The event plays out this week from Thursday - Sunday. The posted schedule is Late afternoon on Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday. From their promotional material: "The ships are expected to begin arriving at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday during the Parade of Sail, although organizers note the exact time isn't known because of uncertainty about the ships' traveling speed. The opening ceremony is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Thursday."

Tickets are now sold out for this event however the ships are visible from vantage points all along the shore. Find a good place to park your car and trek down to the edge of Lake Superior in Duluth.

Duluth is a mix of small town charm and big city attractions and is third largest city in Minnesota. If you are planning a North Shore getaway, be sure to give yourselves plenty of time to explore Duluth before heading up the Highway 61 Scenic Drive.

Reserve a hotel for a few days and really get to know this unusual inland seaport city.
