Ulen Minnesota Viking Sword Museum

Ulen Minnesota Viking Sword Monument

Ulen Minnesota Viking Sword Monument

The Viking Sword Museum in Ulen displays a number of historical artifacts. The primary exhibit is an authentic Viking sword.

The Ulen Viking sword was found in a farm field about 3 1/2 miles west of Ulen, Minnesota by Hans O. Hansen on April 20, 1911. Because of drought, Hansen had decided to set his plow blades much deeper than usual, and unearthed the artifact.

There is a monument to the sword at the entrance to the Ulen city park on the north side of town. An inscription on the monument says:

"The citizens of Ulen dedicate this monument to the venturesom Vikings whose broken sword was unearthed three miles west of Ulen in 1911...."
