Temperance River State Park is one of our favorite Minnesota state parks and the one we return to time after time. We get a campsite in the lower campground, right on the shore of Lake Superior. Once we get our tent set up, we head out to go rock climbing and climb up the narrow gorge along the river. You will discover beautiful rushing falls and quiet "hidden falls" at this upper level of the park. Farther upstream, the water is calm, and many locals swim in the pools and play in the waterfalls. Hiking is one popular activity in the park. Hiking trails follow both sides of the river and connect to the Superior Hiking Trail. Fishing at the spot where the river flows into Lake Superior is always one of our favorite pastimes at the Temperance River State Park.
