Taylors Falls Minnesota Vacations

Explore Nearby Minnesota Vacation Spots Like Interstate State Park and Wild Mountain

Taylors Falls Minnesota vacations bring you to the banks of the lovely St. Croix River and Interstate State Park. These are small town Minnesota vacation spots at their best.

Taylors Falls Minnesota Vacations Just a short drive from the Twin Cities, Taylors Falls offers breathtaking scenery, the second oldest Minnesota state park and interesting historic architecture. The falls for which the town is named are not the small rapids just below the bridge but the high falls secreted behind the hydroelectric dam just upriver from the town.

Angel Hill District is on the bluff just above Talyors Falls. Most of the homes on the bluff are of 1850s and 1860s Greek Revival architecture: white with green trim, that make one think of a New England village.

As you travel on up the hill, you will also encounter Minnesota's oldest schoolhouse, second oldest operating church and the historic Folsom House constructed in 1854 by lumber baron W.H.C. Folsom. Read reviews about all the best things to see and do on Taylors Falls Minnesota vacations.

Places to Stay on Your Taylors Falls Minnesota Vacations

The Cottage Bed & Breakfast Inn is on a bluff outside of Taylors Falls. There is also the somewhat funky Old Jail (yes, it is in the renovated 1884 jailhouse) Bed and Breakfast. Here is a list of most Taylors Falls Hotels and B & Bs. If you need more space there is also a great Taylors Falls area vacation rental. You can also choose from many other bed & breakfast inns in nearby towns.

What to See and Do in Taylors Falls Minnesota Vacation Spots

Interstate State Park is, as the name implies, a state park that spans the Minnesota?wisconsin border. One of Minnesota's smallest state parks, it is also one of the loveliest and most unique. The cliffs that rise above the river and more than 200 geological formations called "potholes" are found here.

Taylors Falls Scenic Boat Tours will give you the view from the river and can be as short as 30 minutes or much longer dinner cruises. You will see the boat company in downtown Taylors Falls. You will see their signs near the town's only stoplight. If you want to get out on the river on your own you can rest a canoe or kayak at Taylors Falls Canoe and Kayak at Wild Mountain.

Wild Mountain is the area's primary recreational area. Winter offers skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing. Summer at Wild Mountain and Wild Mountain Water Park is a prime family vacation destination with the Alpine slides, water park and go carts. The Wildwood Campground and RV Park features:
  • Mini golf ($2.50 for 18 holes)
  • Heated pool (Open Memorial Day weekend - Labor Day)
  • Game room
  • Basketball, volleyball and horseshoes
  • Water, electricity and sewer
  • FREE showers and flush toilets
  • FREE shuttles to Taylors Falls Canoe Rental offered 7 days a week
  • Large playground
  • Wireless Internet Access
