Some of our favorite romantic getaways in Minnesota are outside the cities Every year we get away for a few days to a log cabin on the shores of Lake Superior. We spend our days browsing in the small shops in the tourist towns along the lake like Two Harbors and Grand Marais. We eat in the tiny restaurants and coffee shops in those towns.

In the evening we return to our cabin and make a fire in the fireplace, open a bottle of wine, and relax to the sound of the waves of the lake just outside our window. Or we build a bonfire on the beach and watch shooting stars and sometimes, if we are lucky, the northern lights over the water.
