Polar Fest in Detroit Lakes Starts Feb. 7

Saturday, February 7
Polar Fest 14-Hour Scrapathon: Lincoln Education Center Gymnasium, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., $30 per person.
Call the Lincoln Education Center at 847-4418 to pay and reserve your spot. Payment must be received by January 20.

Winter Marketplace: Handmade crafts and products from home-based businesses, Holmes Ballroom, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., Call 844-SHOW

“Musical Hors D’oeurves” w/ members of the F-M Symphony Orchestra
Historic Holmes Theatre, Pre-Party at 6 p.m., Show at 7:30 p.m., Adults $22, Students $11, Call 218-844-SHOW or buy online at www.dlccc.org.

Sunday, February 8

Boys and Girls Club Polar Plunge: Lakeside Tavern, Regisration 11:30-12:30, Plunge at 1 p.m.
All jumpers get a $25 Lakeside gift card and t-shirt. Every $250 you raise gives you a chance to win a $1,000 cash prize!

Party Under the Tent: Lakeside Tavern, $20 ticket gets you inside the tent to watch the live feed of the Polar Plunge. Games/Door prizes and cash
prizes under the tent after the plunge. All proceeds go to the Boys and Girls Club of Detroit Lakes

Ice Tee Golf Event
Date: Friday, February 12
Time: 12 p.m. Lunch at Zorbaz
(Lunch free with team registration)
1 p.m. Golf starts
Location: Zorbaz/Little Detroit
Price: $100 per team. Each team member receives
Ice Tee winter apparel item and Zorbaz lunch.

This event is for you if:
•You love to golf – rain or shine…or snow!
•You’re looking for a reason to take off a Friday afternoon

Freeze Your Buns Run

This event is for you if:
•Running a 5k in 2010 is your resolution (try our “5 Weeks to Your First 5K” program!)
•You think frosty eyelashes are a fun way to celebrate winter
•3.1 miles is plenty for you when you’re outside in mid-February
What to expect:
• A frozen, fun and festive 5k
•A diverse field of runners – first timers,
competitors, even pets!
•A new piece of winter gear to take home with you (first 100 participants)


The Great Polar Race
Date: Saturday, February 6
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Location: Washington Square Mall
Price: $10 for individual participation or $35 for a team of four (T-shirt included)
Register at the DLCCC by January 30.
This event is for you if:
•You love scavenger hunts or “The Amazing Race”
•Puzzles, sudoku and brain teasers are your favorite pastimes
•You love the rush of friendly competition
What to expect:
•Teams of four will venture around DL completing fun challenges
•A puzzle, physical feat or other task must be completed at each location
•Teams will race to the finish to win great prizes
