Grand Marais on Lake Superior

Whenever we get on the highway along the North Shore of Lake Superior, we just can't help it....we have to drive all the way to Grand Marais!

If it's a hot day in Minnesota (yes we have lots of them) sitting by the great lake and watching the waves roll in is guaranteed to give us some cool memories.

This harbor town is right on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and the Superior National Forest.

It's also an 'artsy' community with lots of little shops to explore and funky coffee shops and restaurants.

There are some great cabins and resorts in the Grand Marais area and, since we are not one of the Minnesota families that has our own cabin "up north" we have one we return to every year near Grand Marais that we call "our cabin."
