From Hannibal to Hibbing

by Shelly Bode
(Hannibal, Missouri)

We are planning a trip to Hibbing, MN from July 26 - August 6, 2010. We will be coming up to help move some friends to Hibbing. We have 3 teens, ages: 16, 14, 12. What is there that we can do going up or coming back with our family? Lodging is a necessity as well as restaraunts and entertainment. Outdoor fun is also an option. Amusement parks are also possiblities.

Thank you.

Hibbing Minnesota trip ideas
by: Visit Minnesota

Hi Shelly,

Either on your way to Hibbing, or on your return from helping your friends move, I suggest taking a couple of days to visit the Mall of America and the attractions there. Even if you are not interested in shopping, your family will love Underwater Adventures, The Park at MOA (largest indoor theme park in the U.S.), Lego Imagination Center, A.C.E.S. Flight Simulation Center and NASCAR Silicon Motor Speedway.

There are lots of hotels near the Mall of America but your kids might love staying at a hotel with a water park. One suggestion is the Radisson Hotel Mall of America that includes the Waterpark of America.

While you are in Hibbing, you and your family could spend some time exploring the history of Minnesota's Iron Range region. Some things to see include the Hill Annex Iron Mine and the Hull Rust Mine, the world's largest open pit iron ore mine, which is still in operation.

Check out the Iron Range Visitors Website for more ideas for family fun in the Hibbing area.

The Lodge at Giants Ridge near the Iron Range town of Biwabik is one of the Midwest's finest family vacation resorts. A few days there would get you into some of our state's most beautiful outdoor recreation areas.

Our favorite Minnesota travel book is Moon Minnesota (Moon Handbooks). A copy will give you lots of detailed info on what not to miss as you travel across a good portion of the beautiful state of Minnesota.

Have a wonderful trip!
